MVB MVP: Notre Dame Guard Molly Angotti

Posted: Updated:

When you make the varsity team as a freshman, that typically means good things are right around the corner.

Notre Dame senior Guard Molly Angotti is starting her fourth and final season with the Irish. Which means, now is the time to put the team on her back.

"It's important to lead and show leadership during practice. It starts at practice and we just have good chemistry this year, much better than last year," this week's MVB MVP Angotti said.

"Molly is a really good leader," senior Guard Sophie Brunette said. "She's our best player so everyone looks up to her."

Angotti has certainly started the season off on the right foot. Her opening stat line read like this: 21 points and 15 rebounds.

Sure, she's happy with the early season production, but she said this team's success will come down to their ability to operate as one.

"In practice we really play just more as a team than last year. Last year, people would just try to get their points. But this year we're just opening it up for everyone," Angotti said.

Notre Dame finished last season with an 8-14 overall record. Angotti said through her first three years with the Irish, they've never even reached the post season. T

his year there is a chance for change, and Angotti is hoping to use her senior season as a spring board for great things to come.

"I think as long as I step up as a leader and the freshmen step up and our whole team, and our two seniors help lead. I think we'll be okay," Angotti said.
