National Influenza Vaccination Week is December 2-8. With flu season in full swing, it's important to know your options when it comes to getting a flu shot.
The Centers for Disease Control said everyone over the age of six months should get one. It also said that it's especially important for people that are often around children under six years old to get a flu shot.
"It's important to prevent an outbreak. When an outbreak happens, we've seen it here many times, once an outbreak starts there are so many people that are affected and they are deathly sick when they do get the flu," said Karl Sommer, a pharmacist at Waterfront Family Pharmacy in Morgantown. "So it affects everybody, and they can pass it on to other people, it affects people at work, and where they're working so absolutely a good thing for everybody to get it."
Most pharmacies in Kroger, CVS, Rite Aid and Walgreens will all be giving vaccinations throughout the flu season. Target's Pharmacy at University Town Center and the Kmart Pharmacy on Mall Road in Morgantown are also still giving vaccinations.
You can always contact your family doctor for a flu shot.
