The Harrison County Board of Education is moving forward with plans to build a new middle school.
The board has voted unanimously to submit a NEEDS application for the construction of a new Lumberport Middle School to the School Building Authority.
The plan is to build the new school on the campus of Lincoln High School to save money on purchasing land and transportation costs.
"Adjacent to the high school which will help with transportation, help students doing advanced work, being able to move up to the high school. So there will be a lot of advantages," said Susan Collins, Superintendent of Harrison County Schools.
Collins said the Board should hear back from the SBA on whether it has approved the proposal by April.
