The Fort New Salem Foundation hosted the "Spirit of Christmas in the Mountains" Sunday afternoon.
More than 50 volunteers dressed in traditional clothing demonstrated everything from print making, to spinning yarn, and even cooking a pie over a fire. The Fort holds this event two weekends in the winter, and holds special events once a month in the summer.
The volunteers said they try to be authentic.
"It's a time when we try to display what living in this area of the country in the late 1700s, early 1800s was like. New Salem was a village on the frontier, and we try to portray the things that would have been found in any small village" said Glenn Davis, Fort New Salem.
The "Spirit of Christmas in the Mountains" will be held again next weekend starting at 3 p.m.
