The Christmas Toy Shop in Marion County allows people to get free toys for their children for the holidays. The only criteria to get inside is that you have a child that you're shopping for.
Joshua Myers is a young parent with three kids to shop for.
"Taking advantage of the free toy thing. Shopping around for my kids, every little bit helps. I have a four year old a three year old and a nine month old," said Myers.
Parents come in groups arranged alphabetically and to keep things fair, each year a different group of the alphabet goes first.
Volunteers work to bring out toys at different times. Most of the toys are kept in the back and are brought out gradually.
"We're just grateful that the whole county is participating in this in terms of volunteers, material gift and financial gifts which were just through the roof. We had $5,000 in gifts last year and $15,000 this year," said Holley Faulkner the Chairman of the Leadership Teams for The Christmas Toy Shop.
After you show you have children to get toys for shopping at the Christmas Toy Shop is easy. All you have to do is find a volunteer like Mallory, grab a bag and have her help you fill it up with toys.
"The things these guy do here. They did it last year and the year before that I believe they did it too and I was here for that too," Myers said. "It's nice to see Marion County, somebody actually trying to help and give. It's nice."
This year the Toy Shop had a lower turn out than usual.
"This is our fourth year and we average around 450 and we probably haven't seen 150."
With all of the toys left over you have another chance to shop. If you did not stop by The Christmas Toy Shop on you can head over to the Marion County Election Center Tuesday from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.
