The Haven of Hope Worship Center in Belington distributes food to needy families once a month.
It usually distributes on the last Tuesday of the month, but in November and December, it always moves distribution up so that people can have food for the holidays.
The food comes from The Mountaineer Food Bank and from monetary donations from community and church members. The church says it sees a big turnout each month.
"We usually serve just about 120 families," said Benita Swick, co-pastor of Haven of Hope. "Come November and December, that number always goes up, December especially, it's usually 200, something like that, if we get enough donations. But people will get in line to be the first ones to get food, because it is first-come, first-serve, and if we run out then the last people won't get as much."
Approximately 135 people came to pick up food on Tuesday evening.
Haven of Hope expects even more in December.
