The Mannington Police Department is working to improve resident's safety.
It has received a federal Technology grant to install security cameras throughout the city.
The $75,000 grant also allowed the Department to upgrade its radios and police cruisers.
Police Chief David James said the cameras have the capability to record up to 15 days and can help police solve crimes.
"We have several cameras along our walking trail and also up in the center of town so we can monitor things 24/7," James said. "So if there are problems or someone would happen to be assaulted, that's what they're there for extra security."
James said the Police Department has also hired two additional police officers.
That brings the staff up to six.
