Barbour County had six main races in the election Tuesday night.
John Hawkins won another term as sheriff with 2,861 votes to Carlton Haller's 2,701 votes. There are two winners in the race for Magistrate and they are Kathi McBee and Tine Mouser, both democrats. Mary Poling won the 47th Delegate District with 55 percent of the votes, and the incumbent Phil Hart beat out Dana Booth, and Pam Phillips with a final total of 2,869 votes. This will be his third term as Barbour County Commissioner.
"It's a big relief to have the election over, but it's always a good feeling when you come out on the top when you're the winner. When you're in a contest like that there's going to be one person that's happy and one that's disappointed and I'm very fortunate that I'm the happy one tonight" said Hart.
School board levies and bonds were also turned down by voters, with 60.65 percent against levies, and 62.74 percent against bonds.
