Tradition and history. That's how people described the two Christmas open houses in Marion County.
Country Prim and Folksy is not only a unique gift store. The building it's in also has a unique story.
"This is, if I'm not mistaken the second oldest home in Mannington, and it was just absolutely falling to the ground and Rose and her family came in and they've just brought it back to life," said Sally Kolb, a customer at Country Prim and Folksy.
The Christmas presale allows people from all over to see what the store has to offer.
"We have people that travel from Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Maryland and they take these routes and find these stores like this, and we have a lot of them that come from out of state just to be able to stop here and go through the store," said Carolyn Knisely, store clerk.
The Craft Connection Gift Shop in Fairmont has been holding an open house every year for 22 years.
"What's so nice is we get a repeat of a lot of the same customers year after year, and they look forward to it, we give out an extra discount of twenty five percent off they can use between Thanksgiving and Christmas," said Ida Gallow, owner of the Craft Connection.
Country Prim and Folksy also gives a 20 percent discount during it's sale.
The shops bring people into the towns and gets them into the Christmas spirit, no matter how early in the season it is.
"Like I said before it's just such a nice place to come to and there's just the people who come from all around. I know earlier we came by, we've been out of town, and when we came by there wasn't a place to park, there was so many cars here and it's just so nice to see that in town," Kolb said.
Both stores are opened year round.
