The Monongalia County Office of Emergency Management is asking residents not to panic, but to prepare for Hurricane Sandy.
OEM officials said they are in the planning stages in preparation for the storm. Interim Director Mike Wolfe said his biggest concern is flooding and wide-spread power outages, but added that the OEM is preparing for everything.
"The one thing we do plan for, and as part of emergency managers, you plan for the worst, and hope for the best. That's truly how we do this to make sure we have enough resources available for whatever may happen," said Wolfe.
MECCA suggests residents develop a plan in case of a power outage and prepare for potential flash flooding.
Residents are also encouraged to prepare their homes and vehicles for a winter storm.
