Halloween is a week away, but a Barbour County landmark is preparing to ring in the holiday season.
This is one of the biggest times of the year for the historic Adaland Mansion near Philippi.
Staff and volunteers gathered Tuesday morning to deck the halls for Christmas.
They'll decorate each room in a different theme and add decorations to the pavilions and porch outside of the house.
Volunteers there said the early decorations help get staff and visitors in the Christmas spirit early.
"People come to Adaland at Christmastime to see the decorations and enjoy the house," said volunteer Jeannie Mozley. "We do have an open house for the public that's free."
