The creator of parks in and around Morgantown turns 101 years old this week, and a local school thought of a unique way to help celebrate.
Jim Shepherd is a homebound Hospice Care patient. He can hear the Morgantown High School band practice every week day but can't get outside to see it.
On Thursday, the band stopped by to play some special tunes just for Shepherd. He enjoyed hearing "Happy Birthday" and "For He's a Jolly Good Fellow." He clapped along whole time.
Shepherd was Morgantown's first director of parks and recreation and helped develop the Dorsey Knob, Marilla, and Krepps Parks.
