Some Upshur County kids met with the county commission Thursday to promote Red Ribbon Week.
The Red Ribbon campaign will start on Monday, October 22 and run through the end of the week.
Teachers said it's a long standing tradition in Upshur County for students and teachers to renew their promise of choosing to stay drug free.
"As they get into those older ages when they have more independence, when they have times that they may not be making healthy decisions hopefully they're going to know, and they be able to carry on the traditions and decisions we taught them in elementary school," said Tanya Zickefoose, of Buckhannon Academy.
There will be a different dress day each day during the campaign.
This year's theme is "I elect to be drug free."
