Fairmont State University and Pierpont Technical and Community College hosted a ribbon cutting ceremony Monday for the new "Ruth Ann Musick" Elevator Tower.
The two-stop enclosed elevator features two lobbies and gives greater accessibility to the inner campus and library.
Pedestrians now will be able to use the elevator to move from the Education Building parking lot level to the main level of inner campus without having to take the stairs.
"So now that we have this elevator tower in commission and its open for the public and the campus it will really promote the use of the library as a public library and open it up to the community when before it wasn't really accessible," said Stephanie Slaubuagh, Construction Project Manager.
FSU and Pierpont are working on three other construction projects, including renovating three buildings.
