Alderson-Broaddus College celebrated its ground breaking of a new residential village on Saturday.
The college said its adding a residential village to the campus to accommodate approximately 400 additional students.
Dean of Student Affairs Sarah Ward said this expansion is important because its out of state student population has grown by sixty-percent.
"Its so very important to have this new housing option for students," Ward said. "One to modernize our housing facilities. it's a great recruitment tool a great retention tool. Our students here on campus defiantly deserve this. Also two we've grown expeditiously in the last year with four-hundred freshmen coming in this year and were expecting just as many if not more next year."
Alderson-Broaddus hopes to have the expansion projects with the residential village complete by the fall of 2013.
