The state Public Service Commission has asked for more information about Century Aluminum's request for a special power rate for their plant in Jackson County.
While I appreciate their desire to be thorough, this really boils down to a yes or no. Either we tell Century that they'll have to cover their own operating costs like every other business, or we tell the citizens of this state that they'll have to subsidize a private company.
The choice is clear - we are burdened enough. The PSC needs to reject this proposal and Century needs to succeed on their own.
