A Morgantown man was arrested Monday following a vehicle accident on Tyrone Road in Monongalia County, according to a news release from the Monongalia County Sheriff's Department.
Sheriff's deputies were dispatched to a single vehicle crash on Tyrone Road at Miramichi Trail Monday.
According to the news release, a 2009 Hyundai Accent, driven by Victor Panico, 22, struck and sheared off a utility pole.
Panico was arrested and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, driving with a suspended license for a non-DUI offense, and leaving the scene of an accident with property damage, according to the news release.
Due to injuries sustained in the crash, Panico was taken to a WVU Hospital for treatment. Deputies said his injuries did not appear to be serious.
Mon Power reported 133 people without power at that time, but there's no word on whether those were caused by the wreck.
Tyrone Road remained closed Tuesday morning. According to MECCA 911 officials, they were still waiting for the appropriate crews to clean up the scene and remove the lines from the roadway at 6 a.m.
Mon Power, the W.Va. Department of Highways, and the Cheat Lake Volunteer Fire Department responded to the accident.
