A 90-year-old Steel Truss Bridge was demolished in Monongalia County Thursday morning.
The four span Ices Ferry Bridge was built in 1922 and crossed over Cheat Lake.
Demolition crews said it took only 15 thousandths of a second for the specially designed explosives to rip through three of the four spans.
"We have approximately 256 separate charges out there and it's a special military explosive strictly designed to cut steel," said blaster Scott Gustafson.
Johnson Brothers will pull the steel beams out of the lake and take them to Pittsburgh.
The fourth span was left standing for boat traffic and will be demolished next week.
