The Highland-Clarksburg Hospital is taking its project to the next step – financing.
In 2010 United Hospital Center donated its old building in Clarksburg to the psychiatric hospital for a new location in the city.
The hospital is now working with the U.S. Department of Agriculture and other groups to secure the $22.6 million needed for the renovation.
"It's going to create jobs, its going to create the infrastructure of the support services in the community, the restaurants, the hotels, etc. We think it's just a great thing," said James Dissen, chairman and chief executive officer for Highland Hospital.
The West Virginia Economic Development Office is loaning $1.5 million to the project, which Highland Hospital hopes to pay off within a year of completion. The hospital is asking the USDA for a more than $20 million load.
