Glenville State College Head Football Coach David Hutchison has announced additions to his staff and has completed the staff for the 2012 season.
The Pioneers will have a new Wide Receivers Coach in Johnnie Morton. The University of Southern California graduate played the position he will coach in the NFL. Morton played for the Detroit Lions, the Kansas City Chiefs and the San Francisco 49ers. During his professional career, Morton had 624 total receptions for 8,719 yards and 43 touchdowns. That puts him in the top 50 of all-time leading wide receivers. At USC, Morton helped the Trojans to a Rose Bowl Championship. He graduated in 1993 with a degree in communications. Before accepting the job at Glenville, Morton was the Offensive Coordinator/Wide Receivers Coach at South High School in Torrance, Calif.
"Obviously Coach Morton brings an unbelievable amount of experience as a player to our staff, his excitement and drive to be a great coach will be a huge asset to our program," said Coach Dave Hutchison.
Former Mountaineer Milo Austin is also a new member of the GSC football staff. He will be the Running Backs Coach. Austin played wide receiver at West Virginia University. He helped WVU win the 2004 Big East Championship and was a varsity letter winner. After graduating, Austin started coaching and has experience at Midwestern State University, Hampton University, Montana State University and the University of Cincinnati. Austin was the Director of Player Development from June 2010 to July 2011 at Cincinnati.
"Coach Austin brings a wealth of experience coaching the running back position. He has been very highly recommended and will be huge in the development our young running back group," said Coach Hutch.
The third and final addition to the Pioneers' staff is a familiar face. Former player Matt Porter is the new video coordinator at GSC. He will also help coach the defense. Porter was a senior captain just last season and he was a four-year letterman. He started his final two seasons in Glenville. Porter also has a track and field background. He was an All-Conferece athlete as a thrower. Porter will graduate from GSC in May 2012 with a degree in business marketing.
"Matt has been an integral part of the GSC family for a long time, he will do a great job for us in his new role," said Coach Hutchison.
