2nd Annual Brickside Beer & Birdies Raises Money for Kidz 1st Fund

Posted: Updated:

Golfers took the course at Clarksburg Country Club on Friday to help out a good cause and a local legend.

The second annual Brickside Beer & Birdies Golf Outing benefits Kidz 1st Fund, which Florida State Football Coach and Clarksburg native Jimbo Fisher and his wife Candi started to help find a cure for Fanconi Anemia, a rare blood disease their son has.

Along with the four-man scramble golf outing there was a dinner and auction to help raise money.

Organizers said they chose golf because it's a fun way to get outside.

There are already plans in the works for next year and the plans include Coach Fisher golfing too.

"Oh it's grown," said Brickside Owner Pat Omara. "The support over the last, really, just say year and a half since we started this has been incredible. More and more people are getting involved, more businesses. It went from, we had 17/18 teams last year, we've got 21/22 this year."

Last year the golf outing raised about $5,000. Omara expects this year's final count to be more than double that.
