The Monongalia County landfill stopped accepting glass from the Marion County Solid Waste Authority on July 1.
The Solid Waste Authority said its bins were separated into sections for cardboards, cans, plastics, and glass.
The problem was the hauler would dump everything into one pile at the landfill and the landfill workers then would have to re-sort everything by hand.
"Glass being mixed with the cardboard and plastic is very hazardous," said Bobbi Benson of the Solid Waste Authority. "And the workers have to sort it by hand and they just want to avoid injuries."
Monongalia County has special bins located at the landfill for people to drop off glass.
The Marion County Solid waste Authority is trying to raise enough money to buy specific bins for glass only.
They would be located at each of its eight locations.
