Greenbrier Classic Day 2: Webb Simpson Takes Over Lead At -9

The second round of the Greenbrier Classic was pretty bizarre. There was more than one leader throughout the day, along with a suspension due to storms in the area.

The inclement weather forced fans and players to retreat indoors during the mid-afternoon portion of Friday's action. Play did resume around 6:30 Friday evening and they were able to finish the second round without further interruption.

Webb Simpson is coming off his U.S. Open victory a few weeks ago and apparently that mojo is still intact. Simpson leads the way with a -9 par.

Here's the crazy part, Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson both missed the cut. Tiger finished at even par, while Phil concluded the day at +2.

This is the first time the two have missed a cut as professionals. The last time they missed the cut while in the same tournament was when Woods was an amateur in 1993.

Charlie Beljan and Jonathon Byrd are both tied for second and were pleased with their rounds on Friday.

"I went from elementary school to grad school, jumping from the mini tour to the PGA Tour. So I'm just going to try and play golf tomorrow and I'm sure my heart will be beating and tell my caddy to just make sure I'm putting one foot in front of the other. We'll just try to do what we've been doing," Beljan said.

"I definitely sound better right now then I did yesterday. I can finish a sentence, but I'll get a little rest this afternoon and be feeling better tomorrow," Byrd said.
