Fourth and fifth graders at Ridgedale Elementary School in Monongalia County competed in a science fair Friday.
Displays ranged from rocketry to robotics and bacteria growth studies.
While no scholarships were given away, Sarah English said fairs still serve a major purpose.
"Building an interest in science," said Sarah English, a science teacher at Ridgedale Elementary. "Doing things like this will get them excited, and every year we have more and more students who will want to participate that way."
Winners received gift cards. In all, more than 40 students submitted projects.
