The Harrison County Commission took another step Thursday in supporting its decision to fund Jesus Fest, despite questions raised by the American Civil Liberties Union.
It gave $2,000 in funding Thursday to the summer festival.
Commissioners said the festival meets its terms and stipulations for funding and sees no reason not to fund the festival. Jesus Fest is an annual Clarksburg street fair that features Christian musicians and vendors.
The ACLU had asked the commission to stop funding Jesus Fest, saying it violates the Constitutional requirement for government neutrality in religion.
The festival costs a total of around $70,000 to execute, according to commissioners.
