How would you like to whip up your favorite recipe in less than 10 seconds?
This week's 'As Seen On TV' product claims to do just that.
I was on the hunt for the perfect blender when I stumbled upon the Magic Bullet.
The 17-piece Magic Bullet set comes with everything you need to whip, blend, grind, and chop your way to the perfect recipe, or so it says.
All you have to do is place one of the bullet cups or party mugs onto the base and press down on the cup to turn it on.
You can also put the Magic Bullet on 'lock on' mode for hands-free grinding, like I did with some coffee beans.
Next up, I try to chop garlic cloves. For this, I used the 'pulsing' technique so the cloves wouldn't turn into mush.
It worked and chopped the garlic into small pieces.
Next, I go through four rounds of recipe tests to see if the Magic Bullet lives up to its '10 seconds or less' recipe claim.
In round one I try cream home-made hummus.
It's a hit! The flavors blended together nicely and it was easy enough to store in the bullet cup I made it in.
Next, I try chunky complete with tomatoes, jalapenos, and onions.
I used the pulsing technique, again, so it wouldn't turn into mush.
The results? It was TOO chunky. The onions and tomatoes didn't chop well with this recipe.
From there I moved on to 'six second chicken salad'.
I gently pulsed for six seconds and had much better results this time around!
Now on to the test I cared about the most, the smoothie test!
I threw some ice, protein powder, almond milk, and frozen berries into the cup, and put it on 'lock on' mode.
In less than 10 seconds, I had a delicious smoothie that rivals the $4 ones I used to enjoy.
Overall, I really liked the Magic Bullet.
It definitely had an easier time whipping up softer foods and liquids like the chicken salad.
It's also really small, doesn't take up a lot of counter space, and is really easy to clean.
One con to the product, it's a little on the expensive side. I've seen it run anywhere between $50-$75 for the 17-piece set.
With summer right around the corner, I see more protein smoothies in my near future!
